Why Pursue This Certification?
When AI governance knowledge is confined to individual domains, each function governs what it can see. Risk conducts assessments the board never sees. Compliance produces reports engineering never consumes. Ethics reviews arrive too late to influence design. Security evaluates threats without visibility into how the model was trained. Audit checks documentation without the methodology to evaluate whether AI-specific controls are actually effective. Nobody owns fairness testing because it falls in the gap between everyone's remit. Individual AI projects may receive some level of assessment, but portfolio-level risk accumulation remains invisible.

- Assess an organisation's AI governance maturity across the five RGMM dimensions and identify priority gaps.
- Design governance structures that integrate strategy, risk, ethics, security, privacy, lifecycle management, and assurance into a coordinated system.
- Evaluate cross-domain dependencies, identifying where one governance domain's outputs serve as prerequisites for another's activities.
- Apply proportionality principles to calibrate governance intensity to the risk profile of different AI use cases.

The AIGP examines candidates across the full scope of the BOK, covering all four governance layers and fourteen domains. The BOK teaches these disciplines not as independent topics but as parts of a connected governance system.
